Retired SAPD Officer Runs ………. David Alvarado

I find that I can run to help my Church, La Trinidad United Methodist Church, with a fund raiser.  La Trinidad Church has been in existence for 141 years, and the membership has helped in our community in many different ways.
This time, I am running with Team World Vision to help provide clean water for communities in Africa. We take our clean water for granted, but imagine if you had to walk 3 to 5 miles with a jug, only to retrieve dirty water that is not fit to drink.  The needs are very real and overwhelming, but we believe that we can end the clean water crisis in our lifetime.
Even the smallest donations can add up and will be much appreciated.

Will you help me invest in the future and provide people clean water?

David R Alvarado :
Hello everyone,
In the early 70's, as a young police officer on patrol, I received a call for a disturbance. While attempting to arrest the suspect,  I was struck and kicked from behind by several of his friends and relatives.

The suspect had his hand on my gun, and with the additional assault, I did not have the strength to fight them off and subdue the suspect.   Fortunately, someone called the dispatcher and help arrived just in time. If the suspect had gotten possession of my gun, I probably would not be here today.

From that point on, I decided I needed to get in better shape; so, I joined a gym and started lifting weights.  I also started running, and I have been running ever since.  I have run several marathons (best time 3hrs 33minutes)  and half marathons (best time 2hrs 1minute).  I found that I enjoy running.  It keeps me in shape, gives me energy, and relieves stress.  My wife says that I am very grumpy when I can't run.

Now, I find that I can run to help my Church, La Trinidad United Methodist Church, with a fund raiser.
$50 = clean water for 1 person, however, even the smallest donations can add up and will be much appreciated.

Will you help me invest in the future and provide clean water for 1, 2, 3, or even more people in Africa? We can help change lives, together.  If you want to learn more about this crisis, go to www.teamworldvision.org.

If at the age of 74, I can run a half marathon in just over 2 hours, hopefully, you can see your way to help me make it really count for something.

I am sending this first to all my friends and family, but I hope all of you will pass it on and help me raise more money to end this crisis.  If you are willing to help, select on the link at the top of this email and it will take you to the website and place where you can donate.
Thanks for your support!
_David R.
