Ima Jean Martin passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017 at her home in Blanco, TX at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Winston Henry Martin and her beloved daughter, Mary Jane Weilbacher.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Nefford (Greg), Donna Woosley (Bill), Winston Martin (Lisa), Robert Martin (Norma), and her sister, Dorothy Pace (Jesse).
Ima Jean was born in Sulphur Springs, TX on February 19, 1926. She was deaf and at the age of 14 she and her little sister, Betty (also deaf) were put on a bus and then transferred to a train to go to the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. They were alone and scared, wearing a string around their necks with their names and information as to where they were going. There was where she met the love of her life, Winston Martin (also deaf) and their love story began! They were married 42 wonderful years before Jesus called her beloved home.
Our lives are forever Blessed because of her love. She will be missed dearly.
The family is grateful for the loving care from the staff at Wellmed/Greenway Park for the many years of care, as well as her sweet nurse, Sandi Gray with Heart to Heart Hospice.
