From: Dale Jacobs [mailto:djacobs@satx.rr.com]
Subject: Obituary for Wayne Jacobs

My brother was the assistant manager at the Luby's on Main and then on Bandera at Woodlawn in the early to mid seventies and knew quite a few officers.

Wayne R. Jacobs passed away in Austin on December 7, 2016 after a lengthy illness and hospitalization. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Edward Jacobs and Mary Joyce Baker Jacobs. He was also preceded by his loving wife of thirty years, Susan Taylor Jacobs, who was introduced to Wayne by his childhood friend Rebecca Cooper Davidson who was Susan's roommate at Trinity University at the time. He is survived by his brother Dale B. Jacobs of San Antonio and Dale's children , Robert E. Jacobs (Amy) of North Ogden UT, Allison Darby McGurk (Robert) Edinburg, TX., and Alexander Jacobs of San Antonio. His family includes Dale's grandchildren Kyle and Lauren (Ogden, UT) and Darby, Jacob and Baker (Edinburg, Tx.)

He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Linda Taylor of Austin, who have been close and very kind to Wayne, especially while he was dealing with serious medical issues over the past several years
In the work force Wayne spent most of his career in the food service industry starting out with Luby's and over the years opening many restaurants and designing kitchens and menus. He was an Certified Executive Chef and served on the State and National Board at various times.

Wayne lived in Austin for about forty years and he and Susan were active in Covenant United Methodist Church.
A Memorial Service was held Tuesday December 20, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 4410 Duval Rd, Austin, Tx 78727. A reception will follow at the church.

Our condolences to the Family.
