Henry A. Martinez, age 63, passed away on May 13th, 2017 peacefully with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his father Salvador Martinez. Henry is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Diana; children Desiree (Briana), Deandra (Izrael), Steven (Donna); grandchildren Seth Henry, Ilyana Enri, Emma, and Grant; Mother Angelita Martinez; Brother Rene Martinez – SAPD Active (Robin); sisters Sylvia Tejeda, Irene Martinez; nieces Angela (Jody), Gabriella, and Julianna.
Henry was a decorated Bexar County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief where he retired after thirty-five years of service. With forty-two years of combined law enforcement experience, he led many initiatives such as improving benefits, protection, and pay for his fellow officers. He rebuilt the city of Pearsall's Police Department by adding new infrastructures and law enforcement officers.
Henry was the recipient of three Hidalgo De Bexar Awards for Law Enforcement and Civic Duty in 1988, 1991, and 1992. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend who was admired and will be greatly missed.
