![]() Ronnie Ray Torres, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 21, 2020, in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his mother May Lou Bohman and brother Tommy Torres. Ronnie proudly served in the United States Marine Corp and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts. After serving his country. Ronnie continued his public service as a San Antonio Police Officer for 25 years and then as a civilian for another 11 years. For more information about Ronnie, go to the Final Tribute page. ![]() Sidney Ray Marsh August 1947 – March 2020 With his wife by his side, Sidney Ray Marsh, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 21, 2020. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was born in Harlingen, TX. on August 10, 1947. Spending his early childhood in Rio Hondo, TX. his family moved to San Antonio in 1957. He was a 1965 graduate of MacArthur High School. After serving in the Army from 1965 to 1968 he attended the University of Texas in Austin. He served as an Austin policeman from 1969-70. In 1971 he joined the San Antonio Police Department rising through the ranks and retiring as a lieutenant in 1999. Read more about Sidney in the Final Tribute section. ![]() Robert M. Rivas – Retired SAPD Robert M Rivas, age 80, entered eternal rest on March 20, 2020 in Floresville, TX. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 18, 1939. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a San Antonio Police Officer for 28 years retiring in 1992. The family wishes to thank the staff of Frank Tejeda Veteran’s Nursing home where he resided until his death. The family also wishes to thank staff of Kindred Hospice who took care of Mr. Rivas in the final days of his life. Due to current restrictions a private Funeral will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Private Burial will be Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. All applicants must be a dependent of an active or retired San Antonio Police Benevolent Fund member, who is in good standing with the fund and who has been a member of the Fund for five or more years. Members with less than five years on the Department must have joined the Fund upon graduating from the Academy. Applicants must be high school graduating seniors.
