Back The Blue Items
Being a police officer is a job like no other. Sometimes, as first responders, police officers face crises big and small. It’s a lot of responsibility, and it’s a tough job, but police officers love what they do, even though the bad days can be very bad. After all, it is a job like no other, where every day they run the risk of putting their life on the line.
That’s why Back SA Blue was created. We love this city and we want to continue to build bridges with community organizations, neighborhoods, and people all across San Antonio. Thanks for coming to Back SA Blue and joining us in our efforts to make our community safer, stronger, and better. Show your support and “Get The Gear”.

Picture
From Mike Trainer, President Pensioners Association

The San Antonio Fire and Police Pensioners’ Association Board met this morning. The item on the agenda was the April 2017 Picnic. The problem was cooking. We did not have a cook available for the function. There was a suggestion to have the picnic catered. Due to our financial situation that option is not available! No one came forward with another option.
A motion was made to cancel the picnic at this time! The motion was seconded. There was a vote. The vote was unanimous in favor of the motion!

RESULT: There will be NO picnic this April. We will NOT meet on Thursday the 23rd to do a mail out

Retiree Reyes Lozano:

Just wanted to let my friends, my relatives, my brothers and sisters whom I worked with at SAPD that my mother passed away. Her passing away was peaceful and at home, where she wanted to be.
I'm sure others have been through this with a beloved one, but they will always be remembered and loved such as the case with mom.

Larry was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer in Feb 2015. He had Whipple Surgery And showed no signs of the cancer coming back. The cancer returned July 2016. He fought it with chemo until the end of January.  He is a fighter.  We have been at home through all of this and he refuses to give up the fight.  He is under hospice care , we ask for prayers for Larry.
Thanks so much,

NEW Retiree Health Clinic Opening Soon

2/19/2017

Picture
Retiree’s New Health Clinic

A new Clinic, Health by Designs, for Retiree’s will be opened in May 2017.
It will be the same type currently open on Paisano Pkwy off Loop 1604.

New location will be At Brooks City Base, SE Military and Goliad Rd. This location is NOT OPEN yet.

Members will be urged to call and make an appointment for office visits to the new location after it is open. New client visits will be for one hour to fill out your personal profiles and acquaint the doctor with any existing conditions you might already have.
Members can called and picked up this paper work and mail / or bring it with them on your visit.

This not meant an Emergency Clinic / Room, cases will be handled but will be turned over to EMS for disposition.
The Staff has experienced that quite a few members come in for routine checkups but have real medical problems, they did not know of  OR  never bothered to follow up with their other doctors.
This is taking additional time to handle and delaying scheduled appointments.

All of the above info also pertains to the current office on Paisano Pkwy.
