Retiree Passes away

Carlos A. Madero June 5, 1947 - January 20, 2020

Retired Officer Carlos Madero, 72 years of age, who entered eternal rest on Monday, January 20, 2020.

Officer Madero became a member of the San Antonio Police Department with the Class of 69-A. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service to the Department in April 2004. His last duty assignment was with Prue SAFFE (PCS).

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to – 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park North Chapel, 3401 Cherry Ridge, SATX 78230.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, January 30, 2020, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, SATX 78230.

The Event will take place at “The Carver Cultural Center” on Thursday, January 30 at 300pm.

Awards presented will be for Good Conduct, Citizen Merit, Certificate of Appreciation, Certificate of Merit, Customer Service, Purple Heart, Officer of the Year, Detective of the Year, Sergeant of the Year, Meritorious Conduct, Distinguished Service, and Life Saving Award

JAMES ANDERSON PARK KEY FOBS ATTENTION: BENEVOLENT FUND MEMBERS

Here is how you obtain a key fob:
First, you must be a Benevolent Fund member. Next, if you have a current key you must present the key in order to obtain a fob, free of charge.

If you lost your key or never had a key, then you will need to pay a $10 deposit for the fob. Members will be required to sign for the fob and get the new Park rules.
Then the member will be issued one (1) fob.

The SAPOA have FOBS available at their office.

Wife of Retiree passes away

Debra "Debi" JoAnn Rutledge Welch

At age 66, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 with her loving husband, Ronnie Welch, Retired SAPD, by her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Tilman Rutledge. She survived by her husband, Ronnie Welch; her brother, Danny Rutledge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE WAS ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2019.
ST. ANDREW'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 722 ROBINHOOD PLACE, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Debi's name to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
